Wonderfull New York Today A Car-Free Day

Bentley Bentayga Image
It is difficult to imagine, but that is exactly what the organizers of Car Free Day NYC want New Yorkers to consider today. On this Earth Day, the advocacy group is asking people to travel by subway, bus or bicycle, or to car pool, instead of driving.
The environmentally conscious idea caught on in Paris last year when officials there, just months before the city hosted an international summit that yielded a landmark climate accord, banned cars in part of the city and pedestrians flocked to the Champs-Élysées.
In New York City, several streets in Manhattan will be closed today: Broadway, between the Flatiron Building and Union Square; streets near Washington Square Park; and Wadsworth Avenue in Upper Manhattan, between 173rd and 177th Streets.
Dozens of local organizations are participating. Citi Bike is offering free rides to mark the occasion. Columbia University is providing free bus rides to campus.
Even Mayor Bill de Blasio said he would go without a car as much as possible today, taking public transit and walking “whenever feasible.”
The main organizer, Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez, said the goal was twofold: to reduce emissions, and to bring attention to the need for more investment in mass transportation. Mr. Rodriguez, who lives in the Inwood section of Manhattan, said he would leave his car at home and take the bus or rent a bicycle.
Some residents, he said, are already on board with the message: millennials.
“This group of New Yorkers has been raised without looking at a car as something important in their lives,” Mr. Rodriguez said.

wonderfull New car sales in Europe rise

A car showroom in Turin

Most European countries recorded a rise in sales in March, although in Spain they were down 0.7%, and in Germany, Europe’s biggest car market, sales remained flat. Denmark and Greece were also down.
As Easter fell in March, the number of sales days were reduced compared with last year. Among the major markets, Italy enjoyed the strongest growth, with sales up 17.4%, followed by France, which posted a 7.5% increase and the UK, at 5.3%.
Prof Christian Stadler of Warwick Business School said that VW had suffered a downturn, though not a massive one, showing that as past scandals have shown, “people are often quick to move on and forget”.
He said: “That the VW brand has been hit more than others is no surprise, but, considering the furore of ‘dieselgate’ we have definitely not witnessed the demise of the Volkswagen Group that some expected.”
He added that Volkswagen’s product mix was a bigger concern; for example, it does not have any new SUV models, and it has been outpaced by its Japanese rival Toyota.
“Over in China it does not really have a cheap mid-range SUV that the market is after.

Best Family Hyundai Sonata Cars of 2016

Long-term ownership costs weigh heavily on the minds of most family car shoppers -- or they should -- and the Sonata is certainly no stranger when it comes to offering high value for dollar. Despite a starting price of around $22,500, the 2016 Sonata still comes with expected niceties like Bluetooth, automatic headlight control, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Up to 38 mpg on the highway is achievable via the standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and optional 1.6-liter turbo-4, while the new-for-2016 Sonata Hybrid returns an EPA-estimated 41 mpg combined average for a modest $4,000 premium over the base model. Tying together all this value-packed goodness is Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
As for safety, every 2016 Sonata is equipped with seven airbags including a driver’s knee airbag, a backup camera, and BlueLink safety telematics with automatic collision notifications, stolen vehicle locator and 24/7 concierge service (subscription fee required). Optional safety features include adaptive cruise control, automatic pre-collision braking and lane departure warning.
Big Things Come in Midsize Packages
The Sonata belies its average exterior dimensions with a huge interior that’s equal parts user friendly and refined. The rear seat can accommodate three adults with legroom to spare, while trunk space ranks second to none among midsize sedans.
Comfortable, quiet and easy to park, the 2016 Sonata supplements its practicality quotient with available family-friendly add-ons like rear window sunshades, a hands-free trunk, driver’s seat memory, heated rear seats, panoramic moonroof and rear seat vents.

Best Family Cars 2016 Honda Civic

The all-new Civic sedan is about to start winning all sorts of comparison tests. From the outside, it looks fresh from about any angle. The interior plays for the same contemporary school as the exterior, and uses space smartly. The rear seats are surprisingly roomy, though you’ll give up some baby-seat convenience due to the Honda’s compact-car dimensions. And at 15.1 cubic inches, the Civic’s trunk will hold plenty of your family’s cargo.
For the sake of driving, we’d recommend spending the $23,000 it’ll take to own a Civic EX-T. That model features a 174-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). While the 2.0-liter four in less expensive Civics is a perfectly serviceable powerplant, there is an elegance to the way the 1.5 works with Honda’s superb CVT adding ease and “aaah” back into acceleration and passing in the small car. You get full EPA fuel-economy bragging rights with the more powerful 1.5-liter 4-cylinder as well: 31 mpg city/42 mpg highway.
Want more safety? Here it is.
Moving into the front row of compact car safety, Honda offers the $1,000 “Honda Sensing” package at every trim level for the new Civic. Buy it. Honda Sensing includes an enlightened suite of safety/convenience features that are rare -- almost non-existent -- in compact cars. These features include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and frontal crash warning system.
Peace of mind is another standard feature that comes with every Civic. Honda’s essential game plan includes high quality, reliability and durability -- all of which contribute to the Civic’s popularity, and, in the long-term, its high resale value when the time comes to sell.

Best 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid

2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid: 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid 9 (2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid)
With its four-cylinder engine and electric motor, the 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid provides satisfying acceleration. Some people, however, may notice a delay in power delivery when pressing the accelerator. The regenerative brakes function similarly to traditional brakes, but the brake pedal’s feel may take some getting used to.
The Kia Optima Hybrid has a compliant ride, but it’s not as comfortable as that provided by the gas-only model. With an EPA-estimated 36/40 mpg city/highway, the Optima Hybrid earns poor fuel economy estimates for a hybrid sedan.
Interior Summary
The 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid's interior has quality materials and luxurious touches. The Kia Optima Hybrid's front and back seats are comfortable and have generous legroom. However, due to a sloping roofline, the back seats have poor headroom.
The Optima Hybrid comes with satellite radio, Bluetooth, a USB port, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control and a cooled glove box. Available features include Kia’s voice-activated UVO infotainment system, an Infinity audio system, navigation, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, power-folding side mirrors and a panoramic sunroof.
The Optima Hybrid has numerous high-tech features, and the UVO infotainment system is user-friendly. Navigation-equipped models have an incredibly sharp display screen that provides useful hybrid data. Gauges are easy to see, but steering wheel controls can be hard to make out. The Kia Optima Hybrid has 10.8 cubic feet of trunk space, making it one of smallest trunks in the class among hybrids.
  • "The 2016 Optima Hybrid doesn't offer the eye-popping fuel economy of its primary rivals, but it's still a stylish, refined hybrid sedan that may be worth considering.
  • "[T]his car hits the bullseye with an urbane cabin and many unexpected options, including cooled front seats, a heated rear seat, and a heated steering wheel.
  • "All the parts of this car that are regular Optima are satisfying, but the purpose of a hybrid is, well, that it’s a hybrid. Until the powertrain woes are sorted, that more expensive Fusion is going to look like the far better choice in this segment.
  • "Kia's first-ever hybrid offering in the U.S. embellishes all of the impressive visual and functional elements that constitute the new Optima formula.

Other Cars to Consider

The Ford Fusion Hybrid transitions smoothly between gas and electric power, and its powertrain is hushed. The Fusion Hybrid's city fuel economy estimate is much better than the Optima Hybrid’s. Moreover, the Fusion Hybrid has a larger trunk.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid impresses with its serene, comfortable ride. Its cabin is spacious and its infotainment system is simple to operate. The Camry Hybrid also earns better fuel economy estimates than the Optima Hybrid.

Details: 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid

The 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid is available in base and EX trims. It is powered by a four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. The motors are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Both models have front-wheel drive. Theis reviewed separately. The Optima Hybrid debuted for the 2011 model year, and because it sees no changes for 2016, this overview uses applicable research and reviews from the 2011 through 2016 model years.

Best 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid

2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid
Reviewers say that the four-cylinder engine and electric motor powering the 2016 Camry Hybrid produce plenty of power both for passing on the highway and accelerating away from a stop. Most critics say the transition between gas and electric power is exceptionally smooth, though some reviewers report a noticeable shimmy when the gasoline motor kicks in after a prolonged stop. A continuously variable transmission (automatic) is standard.
Fuel economy for the 2016 Camry Hybrid is fairly good for a hybrid, at 43/39 mpg city/highway, according to the EPA. The ride is exceptionally quiet and comfortable, test drivers say. Most find that the Camry has composed handling through turns, especially the SE trim. Some auto writers complain that the Camry Hybrid’s brakes are overly sensitive, however.
Interior Summary
The 2016 Camry Hybrid interior is made with mostly premium materials, critics say, and the front and rear seats are comfortable, even for tall adults. Trunk space in the Camry Hybrid is above average for hybrids in its class. Test drivers say the infotainment system's touch screen is smartly arranged and intuitive to use, and physical knobs make controlling volume and searching for stations easy.
The 2016 Camry Hybrid comes with a rearview camera, proximity key, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, a USB port and Toyota’s Entune audio system with a 6.1-inch touch screen. Available features include a sunroof, an upgraded Entune system with navigation and smartphone app integration, a JBL audio system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
  • "The Camry's longtime hold on the hybrid-midsize market is shrinking though, and new challengers, such as the Ford Fusion Hybrid, Honda Accord Hybrid and Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, have emerged in recent years, offering the similar promise of family-sedan practicality with hybrid-car fuel economy. Still, we think the Camry Hybrid remains worthy of your consideration, especially after major updates last year, including new styling, new trim levels, an enhanced interior, new features and an improved driving experience."
  • "It looks better, it's more comfortable, and it rides better. It's just a shame Toyota didn't also take the opportunity to make some small but meaningful improvements to the powertrain and brakes. Still, if you're in the market for a Camry Hybrid, you'll find plenty to like about this one.(2015)
  • "Newly invigorated, the 2015 Camry Hybrid merits strong consideration from shoppers looking for a comfortable, gas-sipping family car.
  • "While the refreshed 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid is an excellent stand-alone choice, it is far from the only game in town. The Ford Fusion Hybrid, Honda Accord Hybrid, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, Kia Optima Hybrid, and Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid are all worthy contenders seeking the same buyer, and each approaches from a slightly different angle - the best in this very competitive segment is too subjective to call.

Other Cars to Consider

The Ford Fusion Hybrid gets very good fuel economy for a hybrid and critics like how smoothly it transitions between the gas engine and electric motor. For day-to-day driving, reviewers find the Fusion Hybrid produces quick acceleration and plenty of power.
The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid comes with a long list of features and has an attractive interior, critics say. They add that the ride is quiet and comfortable.

Details: 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid seats five, has front-wheel drive and is available in LE, SE and XLE trims. Power comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor paired with a continuously variable transmission (automatic). The Camry Hybrid is essentially unchanged from its 2015 refresh and has not been fully redesigned since the 2012 model year. As a result, this overview uses applicable research and reviews from the 2012 through 2016 model years.

Best Car 2017 USA

Volkswagen Golf GTE review

Best Car So, it is an extremely brave move for the marque to glue this iconic badge to its latest green machine, the plug-in hybrid Golf GTE. With just over 200bhp on tap and the ability to silently cruise the streets in all-electric mode, the sporty hybrid certainly sounds enticing, but is it any good?
The combination of a turbocharged 148bhp petrol engine and a 100bhp electric motor (which through weird maths actually adds up to a total 204bhp) propels the unassuming Golf GTE, resulting in a machine that can not only cruise at speeds of around 80mph on battery power alone but also tackle longer journeys and more spirited drives when the engine is called into play.
Stick the Golf GTE into 'E'-Mode' and it will happily zip around the city streets for up to 30 miles without so much as supping a drop of petrol, yet depress the 'GTE' button and the petrol engine barks into life, the steering sharpens and a proper hot hatch experience is offered on a plate.
The engine is a little noisy and it's not quite the same as driving a GTI, but it's certainly the most fun we've had in a hybrid for a while.
The switch between all-electric motoring and typical internal combustion power is seamless, yet the power offered from the combined drivetrains is a joy to experience.
Engineers at VW have managed to integrate the electric motor into the housing of the six-speed DSG gearbox, meaning drivers get full control of cog swaps via some F1-inspired flappy paddles located behind the steering wheel. This really comes into play when the silent crawling traffic of urban life is left behind and a nice country road presents itself. Not so with the Golf GTE, as its on- board petrol engine can also act as a generator to top up the lithium ion battery packs. A special mode, dubbed 'Battery Hold', cleverly maintains the charge of the battery packs so the driver can summon them should they enter a zero- emissions zone (many European cities already enforced these) or want to conserve fuel for the remainder of the journey.
Should the batteries drop below the desired level, Battery Charge mode kicks in and the petrol engine will automatically top up the juice on the move. The result is a combined range of 584 miles when batteries are fully topped-up and tank is brimmed. That's Newquay to Glasgow without a pit stop.Golf GTI fanatics will notice the obvious styling similarities between VW's best- selling hot hatch and this new fangled hybrid model. Golf GTE customers get the same LED running lights, twin tailpipes and optional enormous alloy wheels as its hot hatch brethren, but are also treated to neat blue highlights on the badging and brake calipers, as well as inside.
In fact, park the GTE in a local dingy NCP and the interior positively glows with Tron-like hues. It's awesome.
Those expecting infotainment innovations may be slightly disappointed as this is pure VW in so much as it's the same 6.5-inch touch-screen display found in many other models. That said, the GTE does get a number of supplementary dials that give range read-outs as well as cool energy flow indicators. A Car-Net e-Remote app can also be downloaded to smartphones that allows users to call up car information and adjust climate control remotely.Volkswagen had to create a system that automatically turns the engine via the electric motor to ensure it doesn't seize up due to lack of use. That's because the 8.7kW/h battery packs can be charged from a standard plug socket in just over three hours, or two hours if you opt for a wall socket, leading the boffins to conclude that many commuters won't use the combustion engine at all.
It's easy to see why, because the Golf GTE is so mild mannered and comfortable when cruising in 'E-Mode' at low speeds. It comes as a bit of an unwanted intrusion when the rough-sounding petrol engine barks into life and spoils the peace.

Wonderfull BMW teases tons of new vehicles

Machine might look like a few decades from now. (And "wild" is an understatement, considering it has several hundred morphing polygons embedded in the dashboard that undulate to communicate things to to the driver.)
But the Vision Next 100 wasn't the only news on BMW's agenda. There are a couple more futuristic concept cars in the works from BMW brands Rolls-Royce and Mini, for one. Then there's a whole host of real, actual stuff you can buy that's going to roll out over the coming months.
In a press release issued today, BMW runs through a host of programs it's working on. It's a little difficult to unpack, honestly — there are a lot of buzzwords BMW has packed into this thing, first of which is iNEXT. BMW uses iNEXT to refer to a "revolutionary new BMW i model that will raise premium individual mobility to previously unknown levels," featuring some form of autonomous driving capability, an electric powertrain, and a "trailblazing interior design." It's unclear whether the iNEXT name will make it to production, but by all appearances, this car is going to end up as BMW's electric flagship — possibly a 7 Series equivalent (or even fancier) but packed with a bunch of next-gen tech and Tesla-like propulsion.
BMW is also confirming the release of a drop-top i8, which we saw teased at CES this year as the i Vision Future Interaction concept (interestingly, this was the second time we've seen an i8 Spyder concept, but the first time in a couple years). This year, BMW expects to have a total of seven plug-in hybrid or pure electric models across its brands. In the future, a hybrid Mini will be coming, but it sounds like that won't be on the road in 2016.
Speaking of the i8, BMW is relaunching its i brand with Project i 2.0, which is shifting its focus from electrification to "an equally ambitious path with respect to automated and fully networked driving." That can mean a lot of things, but BMW calls out a few features and focus areas in particular that it's working on for its i cars, including HD mapping and sensors (especially useful for self-driving tech), cloud connectivity, and artificial intelligence. In the Vision Next 100 concept, BMW showed a weird little gemstone-shaped thing called the "Companion" that it asserted could learn a driver's habits over time to start making decisions for them, so that's probably closely related to the company's interest in AI.
In the meantime, a refreshed i3 with a bigger battery and better range is expected later this year. That's good — the current i3 manages sub-100-mile runs between charges, while cheaper cars like the new-generation Nissan Leaf and the upcoming Chevy Bolt are hitting 150 and up.
Beyond electrification and connectivity, though, there's still BMW's meat and potatoes — and the company has some news for more traditional car fans, too. First up, there's a BMW X7 coming, which will be a giant SUV to do battle with the Escalades of the world. Next — and perhaps most exciting — there's "a further expansion of the M product range" coming, which is BMW's high-performance brand. The M2 is promising to be the most exciting M car in ages, so BMW's riding a wave of M hype right now that it's undoubtedly looking to capitalize on.
We don't have photos or details on any of these things yet, but the year is young: there are plenty of auto shows to come, and it looks like at least some of this news is going to extend into 2017. Buckle down.

Best Car Driving Tips & Guide Care, Safety, Fuel Efficiency

Car-Driving-Tips-&-Guide

First 1000 to 1500 Kms are considered the warm up period for your new car. Whether its Petrol or Diesel, ideal is to maintain speed to gear change ratio in equilibrium so as not to cross 2000 RPM during first 1500 Kms Driving
>>> Do not race the car engine during start-up. Move Gently. Ensure to not to speed up too quickly or stop with zoom by applying brakes too hard during the initial run atleast for the first one month or 1000 kms drive
>>> Though Covered in Point 1 – but during first 1500 kms, ensure maximum speed to be under 80 Kms. The reasons for above is to avoid strain on Engine, as the Piston Rings are rotating for the very first time and Oil gets aptly lubricated with the Engine Parts. Its best to avoid any kind of strain

General Tips

  • Avoid accelerating or decelerating unnecessarily.
  • Once the engine is running smoothly, begin driving accelerate slowly and smoothly.
  • Avoid jack-rabbit starts and unnecessary sudden acceleration or braking.
  • Get into high gear as soon as possible.
  • Do not rest your foot on the accelerator pedal, for short period stoppages, for example at a signal.
  • Keep a keen observation on the quantity and quality of fuel.
  • Keep the bottom of your vehicle free from mud, etc. This not only lessens weight but also helps prevent corrosion.
  • Keep your vehicle tuned-up and in top shape.
  • For longer life of all parts and lower operating costs maintain your vehicle on schedule. (please insist on genuine parts during (pre-journey) maintenance service).

Your Safety

  • Always wear seat belt.
  • Do not Touch or Open Radiator Cap when Engine is Hot.
  • Don’t fiddle with your Radio/Audio/Video player while driving.
  • Avoid use of mobile phone, while driving.
  • Always use Suzuki Genuine Parts. Non-Genuine Parts effect fuel-consumption, can be dangerous and cause accident(s).
  • Always use indicator much before taking a turn.
  • Keep a proper distance from other vehicles to avoid sudden braking. This will also reduce your brakes from wearing.
  • Avoid hitting the curb and slow down on rough roads.
  • Driving is transportation not competition. Want to compete? Find a race track.
  • Keep your windscreen clean.
  • Don’t leave your valuable in the car.
  • Follow the speed limit given on the road signs.

Daily Car Care

  • Check gauges and meter operation
  • Check lighting system operation
  • Check horn and turn signal operation
  • Check fuel level in fuel tank
  • Check rear view mirror condition
  • Check number plate condition
  • Check tire (air pressure, wear and damage)
  • Check oil leakage under your vehicle
  • Check radiator water level
  • Check oil level through oil gauge / Dip stick
  • Check battery water level

Fuel Efficiency

  • Avoid long and unnecessary engine idling. If you have a long wait and you are not into traffic, it is better to turn off the engine and start again later.
  • For better and long lasting usage, keep tire pressure upto acceptable standard Pressure (Recommendation given on the sticker pasted on front RHS pillar / door).
  • It is better to switch off the engine at stops of over 2 minutes and start again when required.
  • Drive Slow and steady. The faster you go, the more the wind resistance your vehicle will face.
  • Do not rest your foot on the clutch or brake pedal. This causes needless wear, overheating and poor fuel economy.
  • Always drive in the correct gear, Incorrect gear shifting can lead to as much as 20% increase in fuel consumption.
  • A 25% decrease in tire pressure can cost you 5~10% more on petrol and 25% on tire life.
  • It has been established by trials that you can get upto 40% extra mileage at 40 Kmph as compared to 80 kmph.
  • Ensure proper wheel alignment. Improper alignment not only causes faster tire wear but also puts an extra load on the engine, which in turn wastes fuel.
  • A/C usage increases fuel consumption. Operate the lever on re-circulate position to optimize cooling.
  • Various A/C settings are available in Suzuki. Choose according to your level of comfort desired. It is recommended that “Mild” mode be used in the morning & night time.
  • A dirty air cleaner, out of adjustment carburetor, dirty plugs, dirty oil and grease, brakes unadjusted etc. all lower engine performance and contribute to poor fuel economy.

The 2016 Ford Focus has a four-cylinder engine that has adequate power for daily commuting, critics say. However, some complain that the optional turbocharged three-cylinder engine feels weak. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, and reviewers say that it delivers quick shifts. A six-speed automated manual transmission is available, but some critics say it feels unrefined.
The Focus ST and all-new Focus RS offer more-powerful turbocharged engines and other performance-oriented features. The Focus Electric can go up to 76 miles on a full battery, though that's a bit below average for an electric vehicle.
Auto writers are pleased with the Ford Focus' nimble handling, crisp steering and strong brakes. They say that sedan models also offer a comfortable ride.
Interior Summary
Test drivers praise the Ford Focus' high-end cabin materials and attractive interior styling. The front seats are roomy and supportive, reviewers say, but the back seats have poor legroom for adults. Standard features include a rearview camera, Ford's SYNC voice-control system, two USB ports and Bluetooth. Blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control and the new SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen are optional. Reviewers say the new SYNC 3 infotainment system is responsive and has user-friendly on-screen menus.
The Focus sedan has 13.2 cubic feet of trunk space, and the Focus hatchback has 23.8 cubic feet. The sedan's trunk space is on par with that of most rivals, and the hatchback has a decent cargo hold for the class.
  • "You've likely been told how important it is in life to ‘think big.’ Well, we're here to suggest that you flip that familiar platitude on its head and instead try ‘thinking small.’ Specifically, we're thinking about the 2016 Ford Focus, a car that delivers a sophisticated day-to-day driving experience that's a big deal among compact cars." -- Edmunds
  • "The 2015 Ford Focus deserves a look if you're in the market for a fuel-efficient compact that comes with an extra helping of style, technology, comfort and a fun-to-drive nature." -- Kelley Blue Book (2015)
  • "In fact, 'mature' is a good way to describe this updated third-generation Focus all the way around - it's traded in a modicum of its spunk and much of its youthful indiscretion for some added refinement and sophistication, not to mention higher-quality interior furnishings." -- Autoblog (2015)
  • "The Ford Focus is one of the top offerings in the compact segment thanks to precise, enjoyable handling, a useful array of high-tech features and a refined interior. Available as a traditional sedan or a cargo-friendly hatchback, the Focus isn't without faults - chief among them limited rear seat space and a quirky automatic transmission - but they pale in comparison to what this well-rounded small car has to offer.

In both the sedan and hatchback, the Kia Forte has more cargo space than the Focus, and reviewers say its back seats have plenty of space. Test drivers like the Forte's long list of standard features and its user-friendly infotainment system.

  • "No longer a strong buy on name recognition alone, the 2016 Honda Civic is a genuinely good car that is now leading the compact sedan class. Stylish, agile and peppy (at least in 1.5L guise), with several new tech features to boot, the Civic is the total package.
  • "The all-new compact is a return to the kind of car that made the Civic a favorite with generations of Americans: fun to drive, fuel efficient and good looking. Lates Ford Focus RS vs Audi RS3 vs Volkswagen Golf

Honda Civic Type R long term - First Report front tracking

There are two letters guaranteed to get fast Ford fans excited: RS. They stand for Rallye Sport, and after the famous badge debuted on 1970’s Escort RS1600, it has been reserved for the hottest Fords ever since.
The latest addition to the family is the new Focus RS. This go-faster family hatchback is the most powerful ever, thanks to a thumping 345bhp turbocharged 2.3-litre engine. It’s also the first RS since the rally-bred Escort RS Cosworth to feature a four-wheel-drive system, although this trick transmission has been designed to boost driver fun, not just to improve grip and traction.
Yet despite the incredible power and hi-tech hardware, the new Focus RS hasn’t forgotten its blue-collar roots. With a price that’s a whisker under £30,000, it promises plenty of performance per pound.
• Best hot hatchbacks
Here, it faces two fierce rivals. The Audi RS3 was used as a benchmark by Ford’s engineers when developing the Focus, and its 362bhp looks good on paper. It also has plenty of upmarket appeal, albeit with a price to match.
The Volkswagen Golf R doesn’t shout nearly as loudly as its rivals here, plus it’s a little down on outright power. However, it’s competitively priced and is recognised as the handling benchmark for four-wheel-drive hot hatches. Until this point, at least.
So which of our heavy-hitting pocket rockets will land the knock-out punch? We hit the tortuous mountain roads above Barcelona in Spain to find out.

Ford has toned down the Focus’s styling in an attempt to rival the premium brands, but there are still plenty of RS cues, including the gaping grille and large tailgate spoiler. The Audi’s potential is equally obvious, but its additions aren’t as aggressive. By comparison, the Volkswagen is low key and could be confused with a cheaper R-Line model.

Gearboxes

The Golf comes with a choice of either a six-speed manual gearbox or a £1,415 twin-clutch DSG automatic. All RS3s feature Audi’s seven-speed twin-clutch S tronic, while the Focus is only offered with a six-speed manual – although Ford hasn’t ruled out introducing its PowerShift auto box to the RS at a later date.
With its eye-catching price tag and blistering performance, the Focus RS is a fast Ford in the finest tradition. Yet it’s the car’s trick four-wheel-drive system and honed suspension that star, giving the Focus incredible agility and delivering more than enough driver involvement. It also looks and sounds the part. The only black marks are reserved for the small boot and firm low-speed ride.
With its rich motorsport pedigree and characterful flat-four engine, the WRX STi has plenty of appeal. It’s also cheaper than the Ford and packed with kit. It’s let down by its cheap-looking cabin and firm ride, but on the right road it’s a blast.

Wonderfull Best estate cars 2016

Skoda Superb Estate 280 4x4 2016 - front tracking 2

You might think the estate car is becoming a thing of the past, as increasingly fashionable MPVs, SUVs and crossovers steal sales from the traditional family or company workhorse.
If you’re a fan of the estate car format though, there’s still plenty of choice around. From small and highly economical hatchback-based estate models, through to large estate cars based on big family saloons - and even high-performance luxury and premium models with extreme power outputs - there’s a perfect estate car for everyone.
As you can see from our top 10 list - which we've selected on the basis of our in-depth road test reviews of all the models on sale - it's Volkswagen Group companies that are making the best of the sector currently. Impressively two Skodas, a SEAT and a VW take five of the top slots. BMW and Mercedes make the list too, butMazda is the only Japanese contender. Vauxhall sneaks in with the Insignia Sport Tourer, narrowly eclipsing the Ford Mondeo Estate, but there are plenty of other worthwhile estate models outside the top 10 list - cars like the Honda Civic Tourer, Hyundai i40 Estate, Jaguar XF Sportbrake and Peugeot 508 SW all have their supporters too.
If you’re used to driving a hatch or saloon, the extra length can make estate cars a bit trickier to park, but nowadays that problem is often solved with parking sensors or reversing cameras. The benefit of all that extra interior space and ease of access remain, and of course they're perfect for dog owners - not just for the large flat boot space, but also because they’re typically lower to the ground than SUVs and crossovers.
• Best 7-seater cars
The best cars in the estate class have enormous boot spaces that can be configured in a range of useful ways - often with under-floor cubbyholes, luggage nets and load dividers. In addition to this, the rear seats will fold to offer a super long load space and most new models now feature systems to split fold the rear seats for extra versatility. Most have three seats in the back, but if you’re looking for an estate car with a 3rd row of seats there’s nowadays much more choice in the SUV/crossover sector.
Usually estate cars feel virtually identical to the saloon or hatchback versions to drive, and with all the same engines and components present they often have matching performance and economy figures, too.
Buyers no longer have to compromise on style with an estate car either. The class-leaders often look as though they were designed to be an estate from the start, as opposed to a standard hatch or saloon with extra bodywork grafted onto the back.
In terms of running costs, estates normally carry only a small price premium and won't cost much more to run - insurance groups, tax bills, servicing and fuel consumption are all largely comparable to the saloon or hatch counterparts.
