2017 Ram Power Wagon: Unlimited Power! Unlimited Wagon!

2017 Ram Power Wagon: Unlimited Power! Unlimited Wagon!

As truck names go, “Power Wagon” is just about perfect. Just saying it conjures visions of manly men doing manly things with chainsaws, possibly in the woods, and certainly while wearing flannel shirts. Whereas the very capable
is focused on performing YouTube-worthy feats of high-speed derring-do, the Ram Power Wagon has long been a hard-core beast for people with things to do and stuff to haul in some of the most rugged terrain extant. To tarnish this storied legacy would be unfortunate. Thankfully the folks at Ram agree, as the updated-for-2017 Power Wagon hit the stage at  prepped to continue its reign of heavy-duty off-road prowess.
Two interior treatments are offered. The standard kit includes unique “technical grain” seats finished in Diesel Gray and Black with fabric inserts embossed with the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tire-tread pattern, similar to the Ram Rebel and its Toyo-inspired seats. Opting for heated seats brings Light Slate Gray accent stitching and Ram logo embroidery on the headrests and a Power Wagon nameplate on the upper seat bolsters. The premium trim option adds leather seats and another assortment of embroidered logos. Both trims have an all-black instrument panel and door armrests with Light Slate Gray stitching. A black headliner and matching upper pillars arrive for 2017, and all-weather rubber mats cover the footwells.
Buyers interested in getting the Power Wagon’s heavy-duty hardware and off-road capabilities with less exterior braggadocio can order the Tradesman trim. While it forgoes the PW-specific interior and exterior design elements for monotone paint and the grille-surround from the current Tradesman fascia rendered in black, it does include the same upgraded off-road equipment (we’ll get to those specifics in a minute), including the winch, locking diffs, larger tires, electronic disconnecting anti-roll bar, suspension, and underbody protection.
Order your Power Wagon in Bright White, Flame Red, Bright Silver, Blue Streak, or Granite Crystal, and you’ll get gloss-black graphics; opt for a black Power Wagon, and you’ll get bright silver graphics. Additional touches include a large “RAM” logo and “Power Wagon” decal on the tailgate, plus black bezels for the taillamps. The front and rear bumpers get the powder-coat treatment, and, just as with , a 12,000-pound Warn winch sits poised for action behind the front bumper. New for 2017 are 17-inch forged-aluminum wheels with matte-black centers, wrapped with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires.
